If you’re an adult and have a long history of being mildly to terribly unhappy with your teeth, there is hope for you yet! Back in the day it used to be quite embarrassing to be an adult (or even late teenager) with braces. But thank goodness times are changing!
Not only are adult orthodontics getting more attention than ever before but they are much more acceptable in society too. Chances are, other adults might actually be jealous of the fact that you have the guts to do something about your teeth.
Coupled with this change in society’s mentality is the technology that now allows you to have clear aligners made to move your teeth almost “in secret”. So now, no one need know that you’re having work done on your teeth.
Your lifestyle with braces is what it is in that you do have fixed brackets on your teeth and you will need to work with them accordingly – cleaning them and choosing your foods so as not to damage the braces or bend the wires. This does make you be more diligent about your teeth. But once you’re through with them you’ll be so thankful that you did it. It really is well worth the effort.
Unfortunately, using the clear aligners may not work in every case or mouth. But if you are a candidate for these you will be happy to know that your lifestyle with the aligners during treatment will remain relatively the same as normal. The aligners are removed for eating, drinking and cleaning. This means that you don’t have to kiss certain foods goodbye and, most importantly, it means that your cleaning regime can stay the same.
