What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin tooth-coloured material that is carefully bonded using a dental cement to the natural surface of the tooth. They are used to correct imperfections, protect the surface of your teeth from further damage or, to enhance the natural aesthetics of your smile.

We utilise Digital Smile Design as a comprehensive digital approach to rehabilitate your smile with veneers.

Veneers are used to correct imperfections, protect the surface of your teeth from further damage or, to enhance the natural aesthetics of your smile.

We offer two kinds of veneers -Composite and Porcelain.

Veneers can be made from either composite material or porcelain.

Direct Composite Resin Veneers

This process involves creating a resin veneer directly in your mouth, predominantly on the anterior teeth (the six teeth at the front of the mouth on each jaw). Our team will build up the resin material directly on the tooth surface or use the injection moulding technique. This process is a minimally invasive, time-effective and less expensive alternative than porcelain veneers. Composite veneers can help address discoloured or physically damaged teeth.

Porcelain Veneers

We create the porcelain veneer outside the mouth and then apply it to your enamel using permanent cement. In some cases we may start with aligner treatment, to align your teeth and make the necessary space to add the porcelain veneers.  This is to create the veneers without taking away much of your natural tooth structure, as we believe in being minimally invasive during the treatment.

This treatment is ideal for addressing teeth with poor colour, shape, contours and superficial stains, gaps and minor bite-related problems.

Dr Mark Bowes is a key opinion leader for e.max, a porcelain veneer product that offers patients the commitment of durability. Dr Bowes has more than 10 years experience of using e.max and has completed more than 4000 restorations.

How does a typical Porcelain Veneers journey work at Enamel Dentistry?

Rehabilitating your smile is personal, and our team takes special care with planning and treatment. Our full digital workflows set us apart from other clinics as this technology improves precision, allows visualisation of the outcome and ultimately reduces chair time.

Your first appointment

Our team get to know you and your personality during your first consultation. We will discuss the concerns you might have with your current smile and how we can improved it. Our team will take extraoral facial images and videos, X-rays and a digital intraoral diagnostic scan

We do a Digital Smile Design

In this phase, we conduct a digital smile analysis to design and plan your treatment journey. As part of being a Digital Smile Design clinic, we share collective intelligence with the planning centre in Madrid. We assess your set of photographs, videos, X-rays and Intraoral scans generated during your first consultation, and design a 2D smile simulation, we select a new smile from a library of natural teeth.  We send this 2D design to the planning centre in Madrid, who then provide us with a 3D version.

You test drive your new smile

We print a 3D mock-up of your new smile and fit this during an appointment. Our smile architects will film and photograph you wearing the mock-up and discuss how it physically feels and appears. This stage is where we also take into consideration how it complements the natural form and function of your mouth and facial aesthetics.

We prepare your teeth

Once you’re satisfied with the mock-up, we prepare your teeth for the final veneers with a minimally invasive application technique. We will fit the veneers temporarily with a try-in paste. Followed by an assessment of each veneer to ensure the shade of colour is perfect. We compare this with the final data generated by the digital scans to ensure everything matches the profile precisely.

Final fitment

When both you and the smile architect are happy, we go ahead and fit the final veneers with permanent cement. Once completed,  our team will discuss a comprehensive maintenance plan and how to look after your veneers. This will include providing you with a night guard, directions on how to care for your teeth and follow up appointments.
