Toothpaste
Here are some tips about toothpaste:
- Brush your teeth twice daily with a fluoridated toothpaste.
- Refrain from rinsing your mouth after brushing as it will remove the fluoride layer that the paste provides.
- Brush last thing at night, including one other occasion during the day.
- Opt for a toothpaste that contains fluoride

Mouthwash
According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, patients who brushed their teeth and used mouthwash had 50% less plaque than those who only opted for brushing. Also, another study concluded that mouthwashes with antiseptic qualities provide a higher rate of plaque reduction.
Why should I use mouthwash?
The role of mouthwashes can either be for cosmetic reasons or treatment purposes. If you use mouthwash for cosmetic reasons, it will help manage plaque. In contrast, mouthwashes used for treatment purposes have a different formulation that helps treat conditions like dry mouth, sensitivity, or inflammation.
How should I use mouthwash?
We recommend that you read the label to measure the best amount of mouthwash for optimal care. From there, you can proceed to swirl it in your mouth for around 30 – 60 seconds. It is important to remember that rinsing your mouth does not replace other oral care routines like brushing and flossing.
Floss
For better plaque control, we recommend that you floss between your teeth before tooth brushing. By implementing flossing daily, you can reduce your risk of gum disease and instances of bad breath. Flossing helps remove plaque that forms on the gum line. It is better to floss after you’ve rinsed your mouth with mouthwash. We recommend the unwaxed floss as the filaments reach all the spaces better between your teeth.
