You’ve had your first appointment.
This means that you’ve completed the digitisation phase of your smile makeover journey. One of our Digital Smile Design (DSD) professionals has taken photos, scans and x-rays and has digitally mapped out what your new smile will look like.
You’ve seen the digital representation of your smile transformation – the outcome, should you go ahead with treatment. And you’ve spent some time pondering over whether you’d like to move on to the next phase of your journey – the second appointment. Naturally, the decision wasn’t that hard to make, and you’ve decided that this is definitely not something you’d want to end up as a missed or delayed opportunity.
What happens between the first and second appointments?
In the meantime, we’ve sent the information and dental records gathered in your first appointment to the Digital Smile Design Planning Centre in Madrid. We collaborate with the most brilliant minds in the world of dentistry, to determine the best treatment plan for you. Their team of specialists creates a 3D design of your new smile.
Your Second Appointment – what makes it special?
Your Smile Test Drive
Your second appointment is where you can truly see the magic unfold. This is where you are given a true glimpse into the outcome of your smile transformation. It allows you to see and feel your new smile.
At your second appointment:
- Our smile architects will use the 3D design from the Digital Smile Design Planning Centre to print a mock-up of your smile, using resin material.
- They will then make an impression of the mock-up, fill it with an automix acrylic material and place it in your mouth.
- This temporary mock-up, fitted over your own teeth, will allow you to see, feel and experience your new smile. We call this the Smile Test Drive phase.
- You will also have more photos taken
You will have the opportunity to:
- See a virtual simulation of your treatment plan on a digital 3D model of your mouth
- Discuss treatment options and ask any questions you may have.
- Discuss the payment process
This process is ONLY delivered by Digital Smile Design Clinics. We treat people, not teeth. And because we understand what a life-altering journey you’re about to embark on, we understand that your second appointment is an emotional one. This is why we dedicate the 1 hour-long appointment to answering all your questions and making you feel at ease, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the exciting transformation you see before you.
What your second appointment is not
It’s not a traditional appointment – it’s fun, light-hearted and exciting (not that traditional appointments are somber and scary). No dental treatment takes place; this time will be used to ensure that you fully understand and are comfortable and happy with your smile preview and treatment plan. Seeing your new smile and gaining an understanding of the process will remove any uncertainty you may have and allow you to be confident in your decision.
Only then will we assist you in moving ahead with treatment.
How to prepare for your second appointment
This is no ordinary appointment, so is there anything specific to consider when preparing for it? The short answer is… not really.
The most important thing is that you’re at ease. Wear your favourite outfit and comfortable shoes. And don’t worry if you’re not a fan of having your picture taken; our clinicians will make sure the session is relaxed and enjoyable.
