Implant Dentistry
Implant dentistry provides our clients with permanent solutions to tooth loss and severe tooth damage. Implant dentistry’s main goal is to improve oral health and mouth function by replacing missing teeth and filling in gaps between teeth. Additionally, implant dentistry can be used for cosmetic purposes to help bring a smile back to life.
At Enamel Clinic, we’ve performed countless dental implant procedures to help our Cape Town patients restore their smiles to their natural beauty and function.

Restorative implant dentistry
Damaged or missing teeth can significantly affect your confidence and your mouth’s functions, such as how you chew and speak. Not to mention, the overall health of your mouth can suffer due to missing and damaged teeth. Restorative implant dentistry helps revive your smile by replacing missing or severely damaged teeth caused by tooth decay, gum disease, or injury with implants that look, feel, and function like your natural teeth.
Restorative dental tooth implants offer many benefits for people of all ages. For example, they can:
- Improve oral health
- Improve chewing function
- Reduce dental pain
- Improve your smile’s appearance
- Lower the risk of future dental issues
Unlike traditional bridges, dental implants do not rely on other teeth for support and don’t require altering your natural teeth. For this reason, dental implants have become the golden standard of teeth replacement in recent years.
Dental implants are made from titanium, one of the strongest metals available, which provides a strong foundation for the artificial teeth that will lay on top of the implants. To install a dental implant, the surgeon places a metal anchor in the jawbone, which acts as the tooth’s root. Over a few months, the bone grows around the anchor, holding it in place permanently.
Note that candidates for dental implants should have relatively healthy gums to start, as the gums and bone must support the implant.
Once enough bone has grown around the implant, an artificial tooth, such as a crown, will be cemented on top. The artificial tooth will look and function just like a natural tooth.
Aesthetic implant dentistry
While restorative implant dentistry focuses on improving oral health and function, aesthetic teeth implanting procedures focus on improving the appearance of your smile. Using the same or similar methods as restorative implant dentistry, aesthetic implant dentistry can alter teeth alignment, size, shape, colour, and overall smile appearance.
Not only do dental implants restore your smile to its natural, beautiful appearance, but they also help keep your other teeth spaced correctly for a normal bite. Missing or damaged teeth can impede your eating certain foods, such as hard foods like fruit and vegetables and particularly chewy foods like meat. Dental implants prevent your teeth from shifting again, so you can continue eating the foods you enjoy.
Dental implants also help prevent bone loss that can contribute to an older facial appearance. A missing tooth can cause the jawbone to shrink around the area where the tooth used to be, making the face appear more sunken.
Dental implants can be just as strong or even stronger than natural teeth. And unlike natural teeth, they are immune to decay. When cared for properly, dental implants can last a lifetime.
