The name “Cosmetic Dentistry” describes the art of creating beautiful teeth that would make you want to smile. And who wouldn’t want a beautiful big smile? I thought it would be a good idea to break down the types of Smile-gaining cosmetic treatments briefly.
What treatments fall part of Cosmetic Dentistry?
Depending on what your needs are and what your expectations of the treatment outcomes are, there are many different types of treatments that are used to create your new beautiful smile. We use these treatments alone or in combinations to give you the most ideal smile. For instance, you may want your teeth whitened before you have them aligned or crowned.
We use some of these types of treatments to get you a winning smile: porcelain or composite veneers, crown and bridge treatments, dental implants, gum contouring and depigmentation, orthodontics and clear aligner therapies as well as the ever popular teeth whitening. Treatments like these all work together or on an individual basis to make your smile brighter and more attractive. Because your smile is so important in your everyday life and success, it is really important to choose the best types of treatments for your own individual case.
Is Cosmetic Dentistry harmful?
We, at Enamel, believe in saving as much natural tooth structure as possible (see our blog post on saving your precious enamel). Many of the above treatments can be quite damaging to your tooth structure so we strive to save as much tooth as we can whilst giving you the most aesthetic smile you can get.
How does Cosmetic Dentistry link up with Digital Dentistry?
We can’t do cosmetic dentistry without the help of our Digital Smile Design system. Using photos of your face and mouth, we will go ahead and design what we would like your teeth to look like. We are then able to show you what the expected outcome would be (on your own photos) and then discuss how we would be able to get you to that point. We are the only official Digital Smile Design clinic in South Africa and we love giving our patients the opportunity to test-drive their new smile.
What other treatments are popular Cosmetic treatments?
Clear Aligner therapy is one of the fastest growing treatments in many dental practices. Thanks to the digital platform we can now straighten and align your teeth through a series of clear aligners. This is allows an ease of lifestyle whilst getting your teeth straightened. Governed by the digital setup, the end result is almost guaranteed.
Cosmetics are not just what you put on your face, it’s the art of Smile Creation. Why not have your Digital Smile Design done by us so you can see how Cosmetic Dentistry can change the way you smile forever.
