The Digitisation Session
Your first appointment is the phase of your Digital Smile Design treatment journey where we gather all the digital records we’ll need for your case. We call this stage the patient digitisation phase.
During digitisation, we digitally record different aspects that determine your smile makeover like your:
- Face
- Lips
- Gums
- Teeth
We use this information during the extensive treatment planning phase of your treatment. Here we usually collaborate with the DSD planning centre in Madrid, harnessing the collective intelligence of the best dental minds in the world to determine the best treatment plan for you.

Our smile architects take videos and photos of you during your appointment in our studio. These in turn give our smile architects insight into your smile and how its different elements interact naturally.
To get the complete picture of your dental profile, our smile architects use the following technology to capture your unique dental information:
- X-Rays -Your X-ray Scans help us understand how your teeth are positioned. This enables us to envision the best way to achieve your dream smile.
- Intra-oral Scans – These enable us to capture highly detailed 3D impressions of your jaw and teeth. This information helps us assess your overall oral health. It also assists with determining the extent of damage caused by dental issues like tooth wear or grinding.
- Cone Beam CT Scans – Our top of the line CBCT scanners give us an accurate idea of how your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone are put together.
Our smile architects combine your images, video footage and previous scans to build a 3D model of your face, mouth and teeth. This model acts as the blueprint for your new smile design.
